The traditional village of Madley is within walking distance and offers a well-stocked village store and traditional inn, excellent fish and chips, plus a 9 hole golf course and tennis courts. We give out lots of detailed local walks including alongside the River Wye or if you want to explore further tackle Hay Bluff, The Black Mountains or Brecon Beacons. It’s ideal for cyclists, canoeists, and anyone who enjoys the outdoors.

There are numerous National Trust properties – The Weir is a stunning garden especially in the Spring just the other side of the river. Or you can explore one of the many castles or historic monuments that are dotted across this border country.

We have many market towns where you can pick up local produce from a farmers market or browse the independent shops, Hay-on-Wye is famed for books and the annual international literary festival and the market towns of Monmouth, Ledbury, Ross-on-Wye, Ludlow, Kington and Leominster all welcome you with an eclectic range of independent shops.
